So, what are some of these strategies, beliefs and attitudes?
We call them the “Mindset for Success”, and this is one of the single most important things you can use to transform your results.
When you adopt the Mindset for Success, you will lay solid foundations for your business, your professional and personal life permanently, and you can teach this to your kids too! Without them, it’s like constructing a building on foundations of sand and here’s the first one:
1.There is no failure, only feedback
If a recruiter does not succeed in something, they have not succeeded YET. Consequently, if we chose to think this way at “failure” we are always learning. This changes the way that we feel about the situation and therefore our results. So rather than be really upset and frustrated that for example your business development calls are not going well – take the positives, what have you learn so that you can use the feedback to make the next one even better. ‘Feedback’ mentality means we can learn.
It’s simple, if what you’re doing is not working, do something different. Remember that one of the definitions of insanity – doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result!
Also when you have more than one option or approach to solve a problem, then you are much more likely to get results. Sometimes it’s important to be very flexible, being willing to do something which may seem unusual.
3.We are (or can learn to be) in charge of our mind and therefore our results.
By realising that we can chose how we react to situations means that we can chose a response that is much more useful for us. By choosing a more resourceful response that works better for us in turn creates a better result. 4.Be “At Cause”
Take 100% responsibility for your life – acknowledge that you create everything that happens to you. It means you understand that you are the cause of all your experience. If you want to be truly successful, then you will have to give up blaming and complaining and take total responsibility for your life – that means all your results, your successes and your failures. This is a prerequisite for creating a life of success… If you realise that you have created your current conditions, then you can un-create them and recreate them at will.
5.Modelling Successful people leads to us replicating success
There are no limitations in a person’s ability to learn. If any other human being in a broadly similar circumstances to you is capable of performing some behaviour, then it is possible for you to either perform it, or at least improve your performance. So to get the best results – model those who are most successful at the behaviour you want to have.
This may seem really obvious, yet often I am reminded when working with clients that there is a world of difference between:
Knowing what to do and
Doing what you know!
Although most recruiters can be really motivated, there is always scope to improve one’s effectiveness and action to do the tasks which may be in some way unpleasant is essential.
