Should Recruitment Business Owners Invest in Mentoring?

Posted by Nicky Coffin

Should you, as a recruitment business owner invest in mentoring this year? Let’s explore this more in today’s post.

Elite athletes have a coach because a coach will push them to achieve goals that they wouldn’t have achieved on their own.  A coach will push an athlete out of their comfort zone; they will support them to achieve things they would not have thought possible.

A coach makes an athlete turn up for training and pushes them to do things at training that they may not have pushed for had the coach not been there to encourage them.  A coach is the one that shows an athlete how to WIN, to get the GOLD!

When it comes to business, it’s the same.  We all need someone who can show us how to create big WINS (for ourselves and excellent outcomes for our clients and our billing team).

How Mentoring Helps YOU and Your Business

Just like all successful athletes need a coach, all successful recruitment business owners need a coach or mentor. The right kind of mentoring brings together two necessary things to create success:

  1. New ideas AND
  2. Accountability.

There are several groups in the world of recruitment that are fantastic at networking events.  They bring in expert speakers who come and talk about new ideas, innovations and new ways of doing things.   You can leave these events feeling super inspired and invigorated because you’ve discovered new ways of doing things BUT …

When the event is over, do you ever actually implement the new ideas?  You might apply a couple of ideas, but not consistently.  Yes, you feel good at the timebut the ROI is not there after the event is over.

Getting Your ROI from Mentoring

80% of your results come from implementation – acting consistently will give you results.   And it’s the results that deliver your return on investment.

You do not need new tools, new software, or a bunch of information dumped on you that you have to figure out how to implement.  You need strategies that worka step by step plan of what to do and somebody to hold you accountable as you implement it.

IDEAS + IMPLEMENTATION (WITH ACCOUNTABILITY) = RESULTS = ROI

How to Choose The Right Mentor or Coach For You?

Here are seven questions to ask if you are serious about working with a mentor or coach to scale your business:

  1. Are their clients getting the kinds of results that you want?
  2. Does their program have step by step plan that you can implement that will give you 50%+ return on results very quickly?
  3. Do they have a step by step strategy on how to build your business to seven or eight figures or double your results?
  4. Has this strategy been working for a long time and do they have proof?
  5. Have they been able to scale this strategy?
  6. Are they worldclass performance coaches?
  7. Are they going to be able to help you smash through limiting beliefs?

The Best Time to Invest in Mentoring

Do you have a mindset and performance coach to help you deal with the overwhelm and fear that comes from owning and growing a recruitment business?  Do you have someone who is going to help you WIN even when you are feeling down?

If you are serious about building a worldclass recruitment business, you must be at the top of your game.  You have to be fit; you have to be alert, you have to be focused, you have to be determined, you have to be calm, patient, able to step back and think and make sure you are on track.  You also must put yourself out of your comfort zone.

You must treat yourself like an elite athlete.  Every single millionaire, multimillionaire, billionaire that I have met have had amazing mentors and a team to support them.   They would not have got where they got to on their own.

Each year the recruitment business gets more competitive, and the demands on us as entrepreneurs increase.  If you want to WIN, the key to survive is to create a company that brings real value to your clients, where you become an integral part of their business, and they cannot survive without you.

The time to do it is right now.

If you want to get the guidance not only to survive but to thrive and to build a fantastic business that you are proud of, that is fun and balanced and high performing, then we can help.
